DESCRIPTION:This Christmas Rosyth District younger scout sections are showing support to local places of interest by enjoying Christmas outings with family. \nThis is an opportunity to support local educational venues\, introduce families to the resources available and enable leaders to meet families to generate more support into their section. Leaders\, this is a\ngreat opportunity to recruit parent helpers! Rosyth District Squirrels and Beavers and their grown-ups are invited to a Victorian Christmas at The Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum\, Dunfermline on Saturday 7″ December 9 am to 11am. \nThe museum is kindly opening up early exclusively for the Rosyth District! There will be opportunity to explore the museum after activities. Christmas art and crafts including making a Victorian Christmas Card and meeting the storyteller of Christmas tales. £4.50 per child. Parents / Guardians free. Payable parking on site. \nThe Squirrels and Beavers will be rotated around activities so numbers prior to event will be needed. Please confirm numbers and collect money by Monday 2nd December. This is a family lead outing and not a drop off\nactivity. Guardians/ Caregivers must attend. DESCRIPTION:What is the course?\nThis course satisfies the minimum requirements that Leaders\, Managers and Supporters are required to obtain as part of completion of their Wood Badge\, and at all times thereafter. Following transformation\, it will be a requirement that all adult volunteers in section teams maintain a current first aid qualification. It is also suitable for Young Leaders\, satisfying the requirements of Module K\, First Aid Masterclass.\nThe course aims to provide Members with simple first aid information which is relevant to their role\, helping Members build confidence and skills in coping with emergency and first aid situations by equipping Members with the knowledge needed to manage such emergencies. \nWhen and where is the course?\nThe course will run on Sunday 17th November 2024\, from 09:00-16:30\, at Keptie Scout Centre\, 7 Keptie Road\, Arbroath\, DD11 3EB. \nDo I need to know anything before I join the course?\nThe course does not have any official prerequisites. However\, the syllabus does presume all adult participants will be familiar with the content of the online modules in the table below. If you have not completed them\, or do not think you are familiar with the content\, we strongly recommend completing them prior to attending the course. SUMMARY:BASP Emergency First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our popular two-day emergency first aid courses to learn how to handle emergencies and casualties when leading or participating in outdoor expeditions. \nThe course runs from 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday\, providing participants with as much practical knowledge and experience as possible through a combination of indoor and outdoor practical sessions. Friday night accommodation is available to make the most of the weekend. \nThe course covers emergency procedures; unconsciousness and recovery position; CPR; bleeding; fractures; burns; hypothermia and heatstroke; medical issues; and outdoor activity risks\, such as tick bites. \nThe course is suitable for outdoor workers\, instructors and enthusiasts. DESCRIPTION:VHF Marine Radio Course (one day) – Saturday 9th November. \nThis one day course leads to the RYA Short Range VHF Certificate\, which is a requirement to operate a Marine Band radio used for communications at sea. These can be used for anything from large yachts\, to dinghies\, kayaks\, even paddleboards and are now seen as just as important a safety measure as buoyancy aids or helmets. However\, the syllabus does presume all adult participants will be familiar with the content of the online modules in the table below. A&M District will cover this cost for all Members (Adult Volunteers and Young Leaders) of Arbroath & Montrose District: other volunteers should discuss this fee with their own Group/District/Region (if Region team volunteer) to establish if they are willing to pay / reimburse the fee. \nWhat should I wear?\nUniform is not required. You should wear appropriate\, comfortable casual clothing which is suitable for practical activities. \nWhat do I need to bring?\nYou may wish to bring equipment to take notes. A course pack is no longer available from The Scouts for this course. A version of the presentation can be shared by email following the course if desired. \nWhere do I go?\nKeptie Scout Centre is situated just west of the Arbroath Campus of Dundee and Angus College. There is a car park at the front of the Centre which you may use if there is space to do so. A reverse parking policy is in operation. DESCRIPTION:Our Wild Adventure Days are back this Autumn! \nJoin us for our Wild Adventure Days which are available for all children from P1 – P7 (5 -12)\, whether your child is already a member of Scouts or not. \nBased on adventure\, fun & challenge\, our Wild Adventure days take place at our Scout Adventure Fordell Firs activity centre\, located on the outskirts of Dunfermline\, just five minutes from the new Queensferry crossing. \nWild Adventure Days Schedule\nMonday 14th October – Friday 18th October (weekdays only) \nDrop off between 9:00am – 9:30am / Pick up between 4pm – 4:30pm  \nWho can come?\nOpen to all children Scouts and non-Scouts \nIf your child has any additional needs it is important that you call the centre to chat these through in more detail.
