DESCRIPTION:Join us for our popular two-day emergency first aid courses to learn how to handle emergencies and casualties when leading or participating in outdoor expeditions. \nThe course runs from 9am-5pm\, providing participants with as much practical knowledge and experience as possible through a combination of indoor and outdoor practical sessions. Friday night accommodation is available to make the most of the weekend. \nThe course covers emergency procedures; unconsciousness and recovery position; CPR; bleeding; fractures; burns; hypothermia and heatstroke; medical issues; and outdoor activity risks\, such as tick bites. As this course is being run by Scouting\, additional content has been put in to cover First Response. \nThe course is suitable for outdoor workers\, instructors and enthusiasts. The certificate is valid for 3 years and recognised by MLTB\, BASI and other NGBs will be gained. \nCost\nThe course costs £170 which include course fees and materials\, food and accommodation. \nHow to book\nGet in touch with us via email at Judith.potter@scouts.scot \n  \nPLEASE NOTE\nLorna Whitelaw from Dunfermline District will be able to complete/update the online system with verification for any Rosyth District volunteers completing external First Aid courses.\nPlease contact Lorna at – lorna@40thfifescouts.org.uk\nWe will keep you informed as to when we have a verifier in Rosyth District.

SUMMARY:Survival Skills @ Meggernie
DESCRIPTION:This camp is a chance for Scouts to channel their inner Bear Grylls and learn all the skills they’ll need to look after themself in the outdoors\, and do all of this with Scouts from all over Scotland. \nThe weekend is jam-packed full of skills building and fun. Young people can look forward to: \n\n\n Learning loads of new skills and gaining the Scout Survival Skills Activity Badge\nSpending one night in a shelter they’ll build themselves\, and the other in a tent provided and built by Meggernie staff\nCooking some of their own meals outdoors\n\nPreferably each young person will have had 1 night under canvas already. \n\nCosts and booking information\nThe camp will cost £53 per Scout.
